One Fundraiser Down

While preparing for my mission trip to Honduras (less than 6 weeks from departure), I have had a constant “To Do List” running through my mind.  This past week the schedule was more intense than usual as I was preparing for our annual Purity Night with the youth group on Friday night and my first fundraiser two days later.

I started to get overwhelmed with all the things that had to get done and worries of forgetting something.  Then on Wednesday I read this part of my daily devotional from Oswald Chambers:

“Jesus is laying down the rules of conduct for those people who have His Spirit, and it works on the following principle: God is my Father, He loves me, and I will never think of anything that He will forget, so why should I worry?”

Stress levels went down immediately and so did my cause to worry, because there is nothing I could think of that He would forget.

Almost everything I needed for my cookout fundraiser was either donated or reimbursed. Then, the most amazing friends and church family helped me from set-up to clean up.  Together we raised over $2,100 to benefit my mission trip to Honduras.

This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. 1 John 3:16 NIV

My friends, family, and church showed me love yesterday by laying their lives down so my needs may be met.  They showed love through their actions, and not just their words.  I can’t say thanks enough.
